From our sandy beaches, gorgeous outback and magnificent underwater topography, being a photographer and a diver in South Australia is a pretty good thing!

I divide my time between photography and scuba diving, giving me an endless stream of photography possibilities. I also professionally photograph weddings and portraits, as well as teaching underwater photography.

One of the tricks I have learnt with photography, which can be applied just about anywhere, not just in South Australia, is patience. This was a hard thing to learn, funnily enough the only way you can learn patience is by being patient! That means waiting for the perfect shot, looking around the next corner, taking the time to admire the scenery (smell the roses!). Being patient requires you to double check everything before you leave the house, taking the time to clean
and maintain you equipment installs patience into you brain.

Living in South Australia has given me the opportunity to photograph some of the world's most unique marine life. Leafy Sea Dragons, Great White Sharks and Australian Fur Seals live at my back door, and once you find the time to look for them, they practically swim right up to you. One of my favourite places to photograph underwater is Rapid Bay Jetty. Marine life abounds, and it is one of the only places near Adelaide where you can find the Leafy Sea Dragon, although recent building activity at the site has made sitings rarer than ever.

South Australia has a magnificent coastline, with undulating cliff tops and sandy white beaches. The Adelaide Hills area is also magnificent for scenery and wedding photography as well. The Flinders Ranges region offers some amazing photographic opportunities, although it pays to get up with the sun.

I have been photographing around South Australia for over 20 years, and it had given me some fantastic opportunities to expand my portfolio. Check out my website to see some of the amazing images I have captured.
